Reunion Day this Saturday plus Handicap

This Saturday interclub is a special Athletics South event.  Reunion Day celebrates the history of athletics in the south with some special named events,  Athletes competing in named events have qualified via performances at AS meets so far this season - and there will be plenty of OVA athletes to cheer for.  There is also the opportunity for any athlete to qualify for the Lionel Skeggs and Froggy Wise 100m events.  Plus there are some other events that anyone can enter - check the program here  AS Program .  This week instead of relays there will be the 400m Kevin Prendergrast Handicap which is open to every OVA athlete - details later in the newsletter.

Interclub Details

This weeks interclub starts at  11.00am.

Our duty this week is Shotput at 12.20pm for the women and Discus at 2.15pm for the men.  Rostered families this week are Beard, Carter, Hatten, Knighton, Atkins.  If you can't help let people know in the OVA Members Facebook Group.

400m Handicap - give your 400m time (or your best guess) to Brendan at the OVA tent, or comment on the post in Members group.  Brendan is our expert Handicapper and will do his best to get everyone crossing the line at about the same time.  Each athlete will start at a different time and then the race is on for the back marker to chase everyone down.

Keep working towards being our Highest Point scorer for the season as well to win the Shoes from Running Edge.  Current leaders are . Amelia Stedman and Mitchell Walker.

Cadbury Marathon - 7th Jan

Helpers are needed to work on a drink station - raise money for OVA and get paid in chocolate, what a great way to start the year.  Please let us know if you can help either via email or message

Night of Fives - inc 5000m State Champs.  Open to members and non-members to enjoy a 5km run on track.  A sprint event will also be included in the program.  Food, drinks, fun and great racing.  This is a World Ranking meet.  Saturday 13th January 2024.  Sign up NOW!  We will also need helpers on the night.
