9 OVA nominated for AOY

Nine OVA Southern Saints members have been officially nominated for the Athletics Tasmania Athlete of the Year awards.

Following the back of another successful season as a club, the winter months often provide a great opportunity to reflect on some of the individual achievements across the previous summer.

Along with our own OVA Southern Saints AGM and Awards day (20th May), and the Athletics South awards, one of the most prestigious of awards in the state for athletics is being recognised as the AT Athlete of the Year. Awards are both age based, from open athletes through to U14, as well as the specific event and para category awards.

For the 2016-17 season, the club is extremely proud to have 9 successful nominations accepted by the panel. After a long process by the committee, a more extensive list of athletes the club considered worthy of recognition was submitted to Athletics Tasmania. From this the following nine athletes were successfully nominated:

Stephanie Stigwood (Open Womens, OOS)

Alice Randall (U18 Womens, Distance OOS, Distance IS)

Bayley Campbell (U16)

Anna Blackwell (U16)

Jack Lewis (U14)

Ava Faint (U14)

Ryan Cooper (Jumps/Combined)

Grace Jacobson (Jumps/Combined)

John Howe (Sprints/Hurdles)

The club congratulates these members on their recognition, and wishes them all the best on the 27th May at the awards. Tickets for the event are now sold out to the general public, with limited tickets available for nominees who haven't yet purchased theirs.

We've also got our own AGM and Awards day coming up on the 20th May at the Domain from 1:30pm. #goOVA
