Develop your sprinting ability and have a blast on the track - made easy thanks to the OVA Southern Saints.

About the SPRINTS

Sprinting events rotate across the Athletics South calendar, and generally have a variety of 100m, 200m and 400m events.

There are also the occasional, more for fun, 60m or 300m events.

The sprint events require the use of blocks, and many athletes wear track spikes to assist their running ability. OVA also places a really strong importance on the inclusion of all athletes in relays, which range from 4x100m to 4x400m.

OVA has a proud history and extensive history in the sprinting events, currently holding the Tasmanian records for the 4x100m club, 4x200m state and club and 4x400m state and club events.

Simon Hollingsworth is a famous OVA sprinter - notably for his 400m times including the current Tasmanian U20 record of 45.99sec.

Recent Commonwealth Games 4x100m relay sprinter and 2018 Stawell Gift winner, Jacob Despard also competes for OVA.

"I joined OVA to develop my sprinting capabilities, and am now off to represent Tasmania at the upcoming National championships!"
