Sam, a distance runner with OVA since his days as a junior athlete, was looking forward to relishing in a role of responsibility. Sam is well known around the athletics community, particularly for his involvement in a state team capacity with the state's top junior athletes and his own running group, "Morey's Milers" have grown exponentially in recent years off the back of success from some of his squad members. Sam brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, and given his time at the club is looking forward to continuing the culture and "the old heritage of the club, particularly given the few landmarks that we've had over the past few years".
"For me I just want to see mass representation. It'd be cool to look out in the field, and see OVA singlets chucking a hammer, to see OVA singlets in the jumping pits, OVA singlets going over the hurdles, OVA singlets race walking and running - for me, it's about mass representation", Sam said.
Maddy, one of the state's best upcoming 400m runners, was busy with school commitments last season and early on this season. Given her pending graduation, she's looking forward to "be more involved in the club... I'm looking forward to making more of a commitment to the club this year!".
