The 2016 Australian Junior Nationals are from March 8-13th, and the OVA Southern Saints send a massive congratulations to all athletes selected - we know they'll do the state proud. Of the 36 athletes selected to go to Perth, 8 are from OVA, which is a great achievement for one of the smaller clubs in the state.
The OVA athletes selected include:
Lillian Castle (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U20 200m; 400m; 4x100m Relay
Kaela Beechey (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U17 Discus Throw; Javelin Throw
Alice Randall (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U17 5000m Race Walk; U20 10000m Race Walk
Rebecca Revill (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U17 800m; 1500m
Anna Blackwell (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U16 3000m Race Walk; U17 5000m Race Walk
Grace Jacobson (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U16 Long Jump; U17 Long Jump
Henri Norton (OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U18 200m; 400m; U20 4x100m Relay
Dusty Rankin ((OVA SOUTHERN SAINTS): U18 100m; 200m; 400m; U20 4x100m Relay
As the more senior athletes among the OVA cohort, Lilly, Henri and Dusty have all achieved varying levels of success in their running in season 2015-16 to date - and will be looking to consolidate their great results so far with great results in Perth also. Emerging thrower Kaela, who recently broke the under 16 state record for the javelin (the throw also the first time a 500 gram javelin has been thrown over 40 metres in Tasmania by a female, we're told) will also look to continue on with her recent improvements. We caught up with Kaela after her throw and are looking forward to publishing this shortly - so stay tuned. #goOVA
